PRC Proposes Giving Back 2 Cents
On May 25, the Postal Regulatory Commission offered a little rate relief on the high cost of Standard Mail flats by recommending a temporary rate reduction of three cents for Standard Mail Regular flats and two cents for Standard Mail Nonprofit flats. Now it goes to the USPS Board of Governors for approval. If approved, mailers would simply multiply the total number of flats by 3 cents or 2 cents (depending on regular vs. nonprofit postage) and take that deduction. We'll see where this goes from here. NAUCM is now WAUCM
Western Association of University and College Mailers.

After careful consideration and much discussion we have changed our name to more reflect our geographic area of our members.

We currently have 29 member institutions consisting of 61 representatives. Our members are from Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.

The Postal Service has issued a new Customer Support Ruling (CSR), PS 323, which is intended to provide guidance for Nonprofit mailers as to what may be mailed as Standard Mail and what must be mailed as First-Class Mail. The attached CSR is written on the basis of the revised DMM® language that takes effect June 1, 2005. After June 1, the CSRs will link to what will then be current postal standards.
