NACUMS
Accomplishments
Summer/Fall 1997
EduSpeak, in association with NACUMS, presents a timely workshop
"Update on the Private Express Statutes for Colleges and
Universities," in Denver. It is NACUMS first major
educational effort for its members and the mailing community at
large.
May 1997
NACUMS launches a benchmarking effort among its
members. While not the first effort to benchmark college and university
mail processing, it is the most consistent and comprehensive.
January 1997
The USPS approves NACUMS' proposal to allow Ancillary
Service Endorsements to be printed to the left of the postage
area, in the "ad plate area." This is the only way that
many colleges and universities can meet the "move update"
requirement, thus saving millions of dollars in postage discounts
for higher education.
August 1996
NACUMS, the USPS and major mailers form a task
force to improve the quality of college and university addressing
in the USPS national database. At the end of its first year of
existence, NACUMS already has over 400 members representing over
250 institutions.
Spring 1996
NACUMS launches a web site with a wealth of information
for college and university mail professionals.
Fall 1995
NACUMS is granted a seat on the Mailers Technical
Advisory Committee (MTAC), the USPS' major advisory group.NACUMS
is granted membership on the Council of Higher Education Management
Association (CHEMA), an organization of specific national associations
related to administrative services offered at colleges and universities.NACUMS
is recognized by the National Association of College and University
Business Officers (NACUBO) as the official voice of C&Us
