TACUMS

Texas Association of College and University Mail Services (TACUMS)

The Texas Association of College and University Mail Services (TACUMS) was founded in 1997 at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Its founder, Anne Commander, Manager of Postal Services at SFASU served as the first president followed by Glen Hulme, Texas Christian University. Current officers are: Pat Kambhu (Rice University) – President, Diana Ybanez (Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi) – President elect, Wendy Meyer-Jacobs (Alamo Community College District) – Treasurer, and Charleen Dowell (Dallas Baptist University) – Secretary.

TACUMS is dedicated to the implementation of efficient and professional practices in handling mail in the College and University environment. TACUMS is a recognized regional association by NACUMS and maintains an appointed member-at-large position on the board and encourages membership in both organizations.

TACUMS is a professional organization dedicated to providing resources for mail managers in institutions of higher education with membership open to all College and University Mail Service employees. The organization’s purpose is to help ourselves by helping each other. General membership goals have broadened to encompass the peripheral states of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.

TACUMS sponsors an annual conference to provide new information on United States Postal Service regulations and services, new equipment, management issues and other topics of general interest. The Fall 2000 conference will be hosted by Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi, Texas from October 15 – 18.
