National Postal Forum's
Mail Center Manager Awards
Spring 2003
New Orleans, LA

Lianne Fenn, Director of Mail Operations and Printing Services at the University at Albany was awarded the USPS's Mail Center Manager Award at the recent Postal Forum in New Orleans.  As the director, Lianne is responsible for the mail, parcels, institutional printing and daily operations which provide communications services for faculty, administration, and students in this evolving technology site.  She is also an active proponent of postal products and services, a strong advocate of superior service and views the USPS as a partner and as a resource.  She works tirelessly to benefit both the university and its community, and has presented university best practices on several panels for seminars and PCC events.

The University at Albany is a major research and university center serving more than 17,000 students in the Capital Region of Upstate New York.

Kenneth Hoyle, Mail Center Manager at Houston Community College, has, in the short time he's served as manager, totally reinvented the system.  His creative marketing and management style has already saved the college thousands of dollars.  His creative six-step program has had a positive impact throughout the college system.  This program utilizes education materials, seminars, focus groups, recognition, continuing education, and signage/publications.  This has brought postal requirements and procedures to the forefront in all departments, whether they send standard mail or produce special mail pieces.  He has also encouraged his staff to attend Postal Forums where all Mail Center employees have earned Professional Certificates.

NACUMS congratulates two shinning examples from our industry!!
