  • Old Town - Take a walk through history around Albuquerque's Old Town, the serene village that has been the focal point of community life since 1706. Activities & Recreation

  • Albuquerque Summerfest  - an outdoor summer festival featuring both local and national music and dance entertainment. Events are held during June, July and August on Saturday evenings from 6 - 10:30pm at the Harry E. Kinney Civic Plaza(corner of 3rd St. and Marquette NW) in downtown Albuquerque and are free to the public.
  • Hiking in the Sandias: The Sandia Mountains offer a wide range of hiking and other recreational opportunities, including more than 60 well-established hiking trails (totaling over 150 miles). Click the link above to see a trail guide.
  • Sandia Peak Tramway – open daily from 9am to 9pm  505-856-7325  Adults $17.50
    A trip on the world’s longest aerial tramway transports you above deep canyons and breathtaking terrain a distance of 2.7 miles.  See some of nature’s more dramatic beauty unfold before you.  At sunset the desert skies produce a spectacular array of color, and your vantage point from the observation deck atop 10,378 foot Sandia Peak in the Cibola National Forest affords an 11,000 square-mile panoramic view of the Rio Grande Valley and the Land of Enchantment.  Located on the eastern edge of Albuquerque in the Sandia Foothills at the end of Tramway Road.
  • Rio Grande Nature Center: Located on the central Rio Grande flyway, Rio Grande Nature Center State Park offers excellent bird watching throughout the year. Visitors can observe about 250 species of birds including roadrunners and wood ducks. A trail system along the river, demonstration gardens and indoor and outdoor wildlife viewing areas add to this valuable public resource.
