This year's conference will begin on Saturday, July 12 with the opportunity to earn the Mail Piece Quality Control (MQC) certification or Certified Mail Manager (CMM). The MQC is hot off the press and ready for members of NACUMS to become certified. The MQC is an excellent starting point in preparing for the CMM or CMDSM certification. The MQC program will help you in the day-to-day operations of your university or college mail center, print operations, as well as student mail services. This program is designed to help you learn more about the requirements of mail piece design, but will also cover other topics such as:
  • Classes of Mail
  • Periodicals
  • Processing Categories
  • Addressing
  • USPS Barcodes
  • Automation Requirements
  • Non-automation Mailings
  • Postage Payment Methods
  • Reply & Return Mail
  • Special Services
You will be able to print the MQC study guide (strongly encouraged but not mandatory) from your PC (free of charge) and study at your convenience prior to arriving at the NACUMS conference. Once at the NACUMS conference, we will offer a 2 to 3 hour study session by a USPS Mailpiece Design Analyst with plenty of time for questions and answers BEFORE you take the exam. You may then take the MQC certification test on site for a $25 test fee, or go on-line and take the test for $12. The fees associated with the MQC certification test are USPS fees and not fees charged by NACUMS. Study as a group at the NACUMS conference and be among the first NACUMS members to earn this distinction at its annual event. Once certified, you become an “MQC Specialist” and recognized throughout our industry as having the highest level of proficiency in mail piece design and addressing standards. You will receive in the mail your MQC certificate and lapel pin. The MQC distinction is valid for two years. As quoted by Mickey Anglea, a recent recipient of the MQC, “I strongly encourage each team member to become MQC certified to broaden your knowledge of USPS standards and to be considered the go-to-person on your staff. I obtained my MQC certification at the UMMA regional conference in St. Louis in April 2007 and highly encourage you to consider becoming MQC certified.” To get study related materials or if you have questions please click here or contact Mickey Anglea.
